F(r)iction Add ons -- Giveaway Drawing Tomorrow!
over 3 years ago – Sat, Oct 31, 2020 at 11:18:54 AM

So wow, we sure just BLEW threw everything huh? 80k is done, so that means Okatsu cards for both decks! Keep an eye on the stretch goals, they are bound to grow and change as it looks more and more like we are going to overshoot 100k.

So yesterday I updated saying today I'd share about F(r)iction, and so here I am.

F(r)iction's journals are gorgeous and holographic!

F(r)iction is a literary journal that marrys lovely fiction, poetry, and prose with gorgeous art. Our own Samantha Dow (illustrator of the gold deck) did illustration work for them! And Sam's art is awesome, no question! If you need a reminder, have a look!

We are teaming up with them-- they have a Kickstarter live right now, working to fund their next year of publications. If they get to their Arcana edition, they are going to be buying decks off of us to give to high-pledge tier subscribers over there. On our end, we are now adding their Monsters Issue as an add on here, for $10 PDF or $15 hard copy! This is the issue with Sam's art, so definitely don't miss this opportunity!

Alright, enough fancy pictures? Brink (the publisher) are good people. They run literacy programs and education programs for the underserved as a nonprofit, and I'm donating some decks for their prison literary classes. Consider grabbing a PDF at the least, if only to help support them!

This is your reminder that tomorrow night I am drawing the winners for the giveaway on:

Tumblr

Twitter

and Instagram.

So if you haven't entered, get on it!

And finally, a reminder that my Alleyman's Tarot is looking for tarot contributors. Made a tarot deck or card? Want to donate or license the design into this weird, 130-card deck, made up of other tarot decks? Hit me up here and we can talk.

F(r)iction's ARCANA edition is going to be licensing all the art they get done for it into the deck, so just another reason to go help them fund on their Kickstarter!

See you all tomorrow for the drawing-- Happy Halloween!!

$75,000?! | Postcard Votes are in.... | The Alleyman's Tarot
over 3 years ago – Thu, Oct 29, 2020 at 12:12:33 AM

Well first off, since we're now working with Backerkit, they hit us with some good targeted ads and we BLEW PAST $75,000! I honestly was so happy but also frustrated because I was waiting on the votes on the postcards to end before I updated again. So first off, not only do we have new stickers and postcards from these votes, but at 70k we officially added a Caretaker card to the tarot decks. These cards aren't part of the deck perse-- they are more like throwaway Jokers-- but they will be fully illustrated and have the same backs so... feel free to read with it. : )

I updated the stretch goal list to include 80, 90, 100, and 110k goals. The gist is that we'll get a 101st card, a thank you postcard from all of us that includes the four of us (both artists, the Caretaker, and myself!) for everyone who pledged, and the potential for two final add ons in the form of an altar cloth, and potential posters! I can't promise those yet, as posters add a whole new shipping concern to the list but I'll look into them-- additionally the cloths I couldn't find a good place to get made before, but I'll look around again.

Finally, we are doing a cross-promotion with f(r)iction literary journal, which I will announce tomorrow. Basically you will be able to get our decks with them, and subscriptions to their things from us! They had an awesome Monsters edition with a tarot horror story, and some of Samantha Dow's art (the gold artist) that we will be offering on here. More info tomorrow.

Your postcard winners, the Autumn Equinox and the Autumn Lady!

The voting on this one ended up being much closer-- the Autumn Equinox had the lead the whole time, but slowly and surely began to lose the lead. However, 170 votes in, it was the victor. The Autumn Lady had a much closer race, being just a few percent ahead, but this was after originally coming from behind, so I'll count her the supreme winner here!

The official expanded postcard designs will go up as soon as I get them, but for now they are now available add ons to include in your pledge if you want them. If you are getting a postcard set-- no worries, you will get both of these in your set (though I can't update the sets to officially show that this is the case, it is! Promise!)

And finally, I am getting some responses on next year's tarot deck, the Alleyman's Tarot!

Eight cards of the Alleyman's Tarot

The deck will be a 130 card deck, made up of cards from public domain tarot decks, custom cards made for tarot decks that dont exist, and cards from modern tarot decks, which I am getting from the makers of those decks! It will have the full major arcana, minor arcana, and some duplicates (thinking about 9 deaths...), plus cards that aren't normally in either, either variant tarot (like our own Normal Tarot here), or from oracle decks. The cards will all be the same size and card stock, but I will take care to include gilding and foil where the original cards had them.

If you know of some old decks I might not have grabbed cards from yet that are public domain, or have made tarot cards before, reach out! I am offering up to $100 licensing (for a one-time publication) on pre-made cards, and a free deck to all contributors of cards they've made. I have a few people doing standalone cards (which is cool), but I really want to see more cards from modern indie-made decks, as I want to be able to shout you out!

Included here is a card from Ellis P.'s Sigil Tarot, Casi Cline's Tarot of Perpetual Time (ending in 18 hours!),  Zoazig's floral tarot, a "homeless" card from a deck of Yve Lepkowski's, Jordanne Le Fae's unfinished Queen of Wands from the Inkromancy Apocalypse tarot, the Bogeyman from my own Misery Tarot (which may be pushed off to 2022), a 2 of Pentacles from the Serravalle-Sesia Tarot, and an original Wound Man design from Castin Spells.

Yet to be included is a card from the Guide to the Strange and Eternal Tarot, original cards from Sam and Amy both, likely a card (or two!) from the Normal Tarot, a card from Tim Hutchings (maker of Thousand Year Old Vampire), Liz Mamont, Shannon Bennion, Hether McCuistion, more designs from yours truly, 20 more public domain decks, and more!

That's all for now,

Talk again very soon when we inevitably leap past $100,000, a truly fake number that I cannot comprehend at this time haha,

Stickers Chosen! 5x7 Print Voting Starts Now! also... The Alleyman's Tarot!
over 3 years ago – Mon, Oct 26, 2020 at 11:34:36 PM

Hello team!

Without much competition, for the gold deck we now have a sticker of the Lantern and the Well! For the silver deck, by a landslide, you love it, we picked it-- the Eighth of Winter!

Hip hip hooray! : )

But in the meantime, we blew past $60k! (we're nearly $2000 over that right now!)

So now it's time for another poll (and I promise the last one for this campaign!) for a new postcard-sized print! Like last time, I will give it 4-5 days to settle before sharing, and you will choose a new postcard-sized print from each deck.

And to be clear, anyone getting a sticker set or postcard set will automatically get these additions, so now they are even more cost effective choices as add ons!

From the gold deck, we have Winter Solstice, Autumn Equinox, Sixth of Summer, and the Masterless Knight.

From the silver deck, we have Seventh of Spring, Winter Knight II, Autumn Lady, and Third of Spring!

 VOTE FOR YOUR CHOICES HERE!!

Like the last one, I'll let it rest for a few days, then we'll hop into further things! We have extra cards to include, and who knows what else might come along! We also just now started ads with a third party so we'll see if it brinsg a return on investment! : )

Don't forget you can order dice and tarot readings from me here, and you can even get a dice+tarot reading now!

And finally-- I am working on the Alleyman's Tarot for next year. In any alley of any big city, you might find the Alleyman. A scam artist, a performer, a magician. He will perform a trick for you, or play the typical ball and cup scam, depending on who you are. But if you pay him 17 cents exactly, he will pull out his strange, large tarot deck of mismatched cards, some dirty and old, some plastic and kitschy, and he will read your future.

With the help of old public domani decks, my own designs, other artists making standalone tarot cards from fake decks, and donated cards/licensed cards from other modern tarot decks, I am bringing this 130 card, mismatched tarot to life. I have been making a list of people interested of contributing, as well as old public domain tarot decks. If you have either, I'd love to see what you can offer! I love all the ones people are offering that are standalone of their own art, but I'd love to see more full decks offering a card from their collection, as I especially want this deck to be a showcase of indie decks that could use another chance to be noticed!

Message me on here. I am not finalizing the deck yet, just gathering the people and cards of interest. Even if you offer the card to me for free, I might not pick it and instead go for one that I have to pay for the use of-- nothing is certain yet, but I will know innately what cards the alleyman would have picked.

Thanks everyone, and happy voting!

Hello people! Stretch Goals and Going Further!
over 3 years ago – Fri, Oct 23, 2020 at 10:34:40 PM

Hello everyone!

First off, we broke 58k yesterday! That means each artist was going to pick a card to add as a sticker design. How does this work? Well, I add a new add on just for those two new stickers, and anyone getting a set now gets 2 bonus stickers!

I expect us to break 60k soon and be voting for postcards, but for now, let's focus on the stickers! Postcards will be in a few days.

The eight cards to choose from!

So, check out the cards above, and then hop on over to the poll to vote for which of each (gold and silver) you'd like for a sticker, I'll let voting go for 5 days or so, then announce it and plug the add ons to the campaign!

We are also officially going to work with Backerkit this project, so when when the campaign ends, people will be able to add on more add-ons, get late pledges for friends, and just generally have a free-range store experience. It might be awesome and bring us a lot more people, it might just be okay, it might end up costing us a little money, but this will be my first time using them, and I figured I might as well just hop on the train and try it out.

This is the phase when the campaign begins to peter out, lose all momentum. Please consider sharing us around-- every time someone takes a look is helpful for us! : )
